OHANEZE NDI IGBO SET TO CONVERGE ALL SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS TODAY IN PREPARATION FOR NATIONAL CONFERENCE.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will today (Sunday) meet with the governors of the South East to deliberate and take a stand on issues to be canvassed at the proposed National Conference THE SUN NEWSPAPER reports. The South East governors who are also meeting with their South-South counterparts in Enugu later today are billed to discuss issues pertaining to the conference with a view to harmonizing the positions of both zones.
The Ohanaeze which held its Imeobi, (the highest organ of the Ohaneze) meeting in Enugu yesterday  had to withhold its communiqué after a call was said to have come from the governors to hold on until the meeting which will hold at the Enugu Government House.

 
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General, Chief Isaac Wonwu said; “the Imeobi met this afternoon to appraise the proposed National Conference. We have looked at it critically and we are presently articulating our position. As soon as we conclude consultations, we will take position on issues to be canvassed at the conference.“We have a responsibility as a group, we also want to ensure that we properly consult wide and also get across to the respective governors and take a proper position.

 
“The meeting of today is inconclusive and until we are properly articulated and consulted properly, we will get back to the press.” The Ohanaeze also set up a committee headed by Professor Ukwu I. Ukwu to articulate all views from different Igbo groups and individuals ahead of the visit of the pre-CONFAB panel, which is billed for Enugu on 28 of this month.
After the meeting with the governors today, the Ohanaeze is expected to meet again on Monday to put finishing touches to the presentation they will make to the visiting panel.
